Welcome to scenic Trytetjern, one of Hallingdal’s finest swimming and outdoor recreation areas! Choose from three different parking areas for overnight stays with your motorhome, caravan, or campervan.

Price and payment

• Price: NOK 400 per vehicle per night
• Daytime parking: Free
• Payment: If you need to pay for more than one vehicle, add the first vehicle to your cart before registering the next.

The fee is collected by Nesbyen Municipality and applies to all overnight parking at Trytetjern for motorhomes, caravans, and campervans.

• Toilets and cold showers by the swimming area
• Playground with climbing frames and balance courses
• Rowboat available for rent (NOK 20 via Vipps)

Things to do at Trytetjern

Swimming and outdoor fun

Trytetjern is a popular spot for swimming, picnics, and various outdoor activities.

Hiking

• Trytetjern loop trail: A 1.4 km scenic and universally accessible trail — perfect for strollers, wheelchairs, or a jog.
• Shelter: A cozy place to rest or enjoy lunch on the southern end of the lake.
• The viewpoint "Utsikten": A short detour takes you to this popular lookout point.
• Klevarudnatten hike: Trytetjern is also the starting point for several marked hiking trails, including the trail up to Klevarudnatten.

Mountain biking for all levels

Right by the swimming area, you’ll find three marked mountain bike trails:

• Trytetrøkket (easy)
• Blåbærtrøkket (medium)
• Tyttebærtrøkket (demanding)

Nearby, you’ll also find some of Eastern Norway’s best mountain bike trails, including the renowned Den Ravinde.

We recommend the scenic 12 km loop Rundsåsen rundt, starting from Trytetjern.

Fishing

Trytetjern offers good fishing opportunities — don’t forget your fishing license! A boat is available for rent by the lake (NOK 20 via Vipps).
