About Hallingdal Museum:
Founded in 1899, Hallingdal Museum is beautifully set in Nesbyen and showcases 30 historic buildings and around 30,000 artifacts from across the Hallingdal region. One of the highlights is the Staveloftet from Ål, built around 1340 – one of the best-preserved non-religious wooden buildings from the Middle Ages in Norway.
The museum offers exhibitions, themed days, and activities that provide a unique glimpse into both everyday life and special moments from Hallingdal’s past. In the Tandberg Building, you can explore a World War II exhibition from the local resistance, as well as traditional craft displays.
We also have a charming gift shop with local history books and handmade crafts.
Welcome to a day of history, crafts, nature, and local stories!
